Welcome, welcome, welcome! You have made it here just in time to experience the Discussion Frameworks Versus Discussion Boards Battle, I meant series.
Now, you may have heard about the VERSUZ Battles going on in the internet streets of Instagram where two artists from R&B or Hip-Hop battle using their body of work, one song at a time. The artists alternate between playing and singing one of their hits until they have shared a hit list of up to maybe 15-20 songs, depending on the longevity of the artists’ career. In the end, the fans are left to decide who won the battle; however, most recently, VERSUZ has decided to look upon these battles more like celebrations of the artists for the culture.
Well, in this series, we are going to look at different aspects of both Discussion Frameworks and Discussion Boards, so that we, the higher educators online may determine which instructional approach or strategy is best for the students that we teach.
The question that lies before us is, “Do we want discussions or content conversations? My goal is to provide some food for thought so that we might begin to consider this question, deeply. By the end of today’s audioshop, perhaps, we will be able to make that decision.
Before we jump right into it, I have to let you know that I have a freebie for you that I believe will give you something to talk about as Bonnie Raitt put it. It is the 2nd module of my LTVD that’s Learning Through Virtual Discussion Mini-Course. If you go to bit.ly/LTVD2, you can watch the 4-minute overview that explains the eight steps of the LTVD Framework. If you decide you want to learn more, you can enter your name and email and I will send you the entire module that breaks down the steps even further. Once you learn the steps, you may be compelled to introduce the framework to your students to increase interest in course content and also to increase student engagement.
I have included the audioshop below. Feel free to share your thoughts and to subscribe to my YouTube channel. I would love for you to be a part of my Higher Educators Online Family.
